On this first weekend of spring, our community turned out in a major way to clean up Needham Park!
Longtime Friends and many new faces came by the park to pick up trash and remove privet on the overgrown (western) side of the creek flowing through the property. Volunteers also cut back invasive ivy on more than 20 trees in the park, saving the life of its oldest treasures and ensuring that Needham Park will remain a healthy natural habitat.
Now the park’s natural beauty is more accessible than ever, and there’s so much more for the community to enjoy!
These budding tulip trees have been hidden away by overgrowth! Amongst the privet were many plants we need to preserve. An extraordinary amount of privet had risen up throughout the park. We removed beer bottles, wrappers, grocery bags, and even a 25′ pipe! It’s astonishing how much trash has accumulated throughout the park over the years.
