On this chilly fall morning, members of the community joined together to clean up Needham Park!
The Friends focused on collecting newly-accumulated trash and removing privet and other invasive species on the western side of the creek, building atop the work we did in the spring.
Tackling ivy is important to ensuring the health of Needham’s great trees, and today provided ample opportunity to address new growths.
Native species throughout the park were identified and marked to ensure they remained untouched. Volunteers surveying the park identified a large variety of interesting plants thriving in the wooded portion of the park: red and white mulberry, tulip trees, wineberry, a thicket of sweetgum, a small red cedar, and more!
Thank you so much to everyone in the community who devoted their Saturday morning to our neighborhood park!
